About

Growing up in the Eighties my young mind was saturated with pulp Asian martial practices, be it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Karate Kid, or the occasional illicit glimpse of Enter the Dragon. Life in a North Yorkshire village could never quite satiate my curiosity and so it remained dormant.

Roll on twenty years and I’m now practicing Thai meditation and conducting PhD research in London. I attend my first class in Wing Chun. It clicks, the mindfulness of motion, the elegant utility of movement, and the sweet sweet Kung Fu like Donatello used to do.

From that point on, I was hooked on the martial arts, exploring extensively and experimenting with different means of developing my practice. Zen Buddhism defines enlightenment as a complete synchronicity of body, motion and soul.

I began Wing Chun at approximately the same age as Bruce Lee at his death, though this might not make me the most likely of guides, won’t you join me on my path?
